New Well Project - Fall 2026
The New Well Project is funded through a grant from the Department of Water Resources, through the Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (IRMWP). The well will be located near the existing well behind the Mono City Fire Hall, and will fulfill requirements for a redundant water supply in Mono City.
The design and bidding process for the drilling of the well occurred in February and March 2026. The contract for drilling was issued to Your H2O Pro. Drilling began in July 2026 and the new well is currently drilled to depth, with the placement of the casing and sealing of the well coming in the weeks ahead.
The design for the accompanying electrical controls, pump, and connections has been completed and that phase of the project was put out to bid on August 24, 2026.
Waterline Replacement Project - Completed December 2025
The Waterline Replacement project has been funded through the Department of Water Resources drought relief program, with the intent of replacing Mono City's aging and leaking water mains throughout the community.
The project was contracted to Construction Specialty, Inc. of Lee Vining, CA and was completed in December 2025.
The project was completed on time and under budget, leaving funding available to create another 'Task' within the Grant Agreement, which is to install water meters throughout the community. The work began in August 2026 and is expected to be completed September 2026.
